Arapaho Knife Sheath, 1860

A knife sheath constructed out of sinew-sewn native-tanned hide with a rawhide liner. The recto side is fully beaded, sinew-sewn with seed beads. The design is divided into two-sections consisting of two stepped green/yellow hour-glass motifs trimmed in blue which site on a pink field. The lower section, which is divided with a row of tin cones, consists of radiating stepped black-yellow-black lines.
