Cheyenne Tobacco Bag, 1870

A native tanned hide pipe bag decorated with sinew sewn seed beads along the opening, side seams, and base. The base panel consists of central red and blue bars, flanked by alternating white and faceted green bars. The seed seams are similarly decorated. The opening has four bifurcated tabs trimmed with beads. The body of the bag is stained with traces of red pigment.
