Knife sheaths, alongside moccasins, perhaps best demonstrate “tribal style” over many other object types. This sheath reveals many of the character attributes which are celebrated in 1870s-period Sioux beadwork. Reinforcing this attribution was a piece of old newspaper indicating that the sheath was collected at Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
